The recent discovery of a body believed to belong to missing taxi driver Victoria Mumbua Muloki has cast a spotlight on safety concerns within the transport industry. Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) made the grim finding at the Nairobi City Mortuary, following intense questioning of a suspect named Edwin Ng’etich. Ng’etich was apprehended in Nakuru while driving Muloki's stolen vehicle, which ultimately led investigators to the location where her body was dumped in a thicket near a road in Lari, Kiambu County.

Muloki, a taxi driver based in Mombasa, had gone missing on Friday, September 27, after accepting a ride request that took her from Mombasa to Samburu. The investigation has revealed that Ng’etich has a troubling history of similar offenses, raising serious questions about safety protocols for taxi drivers and their passengers. The police received a report about the body, which was initially cataloged as unknown when it was brought to the mortuary on September 29.

Muloki's family has been informed of the situation and is preparing to travel to Nairobi for further identification processes, including DNA profiling. They are understandably seeking closure as authorities plan to conduct a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death. This tragic incident underscores the urgent need for enhanced safety measures and awareness in the transportation sector, reminding us of the vulnerabilities faced by those who rely on it for their livelihood.
