‘No Rigathi, No Ruto’ chants in Nyeri ahead of public participation

In Nyeri, residents staged a vibrant protest on Friday against the impeachment motion targeting Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Chanting slogans like "No Rigathi, No Ruto" and "Kufa dereva, Kufa makanga," they expressed their belief that if Gachagua is removed, President Ruto should also resign.

The atmosphere was lively, with protesters breaking into song and dance.

The impeachment motion, introduced by Kibwezi West MP Mutuse Mwengi, includes serious allegations such as corruption, abuse of office, and constitutional violations.

Speaker Moses Wetang'ula emphasized the importance of public participation in the process, in line with Article 182 of the Constitution, before any parliamentary debate and vote.

As public opinion is gathered, heightened security measures are in place nationwide, ensuring a safe environment for citizens to voice their views on this significant political issue
