Forgive me! Besieged Gachagua appeals to Ruto, MPs and Kenyans
Gachagua asked Ruto, MPs who have tabled his impeachment in parliament and Kenyans to forgive him for his wrongdoing.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has made a heartfelt appeal for forgiveness as he faces a pivotal parliamentary session that could lead to his impeachment. During a church service at the National Prayer Altar in Nairobi, Gachagua urged President William Ruto, Members of Parliament, and the public to find it in their hearts to forgive him for any wrongs he may have committed while in office.
He specifically addressed Ruto, expressing regret if his actions had caused any offense, and extended the same plea to his wife and the MPs involved in the impeachment motion. Gachagua reflected on his previous comments about “shareholders,” clarifying that his intention was simply to appreciate the support he and Ruto received from voters.
The impeachment motion, which accuses Gachagua of gross misconduct and constitutional violations, has sparked significant controversy. Critics allege that he has shown disrespect toward the president and unlawfully amassed wealth since taking office. Gachagua has vehemently denied these allegations, claiming that the impeachment is politically motivated, rooted in his support for Ruto in their home region of Mt. Kenya.
As public discussions about the impeachment unfold, many Kenyans are demanding accountability and better governance from the Kenya Kwanza leadership. The sentiment is clear: a substantial number of citizens are calling for both Gachagua and Ruto to vacate their offices, highlighting a growing frustration with the current administration.
