The book chronicles her political journey and explores Kenya’s electoral landscape, marking a significant milestone in the outspoken legislator’s career.

 A Tribute to Her Parents and Political Influences

Odhiambo dedicated the book to her late parents, who played crucial roles in shaping her political path. She honored her mother, Damaris Auma Odhiambo, describing her as an exceptional leader without a formal title but a strong influence in her life. In an emotional tribute on X (formerly Twitter), she stated, “I dedicate this book to the memory of my mother Damaris Auma Odhiambo, an exceptional leader ‘who had no title’ and to the memory of my father, Harrison Odhiambo Opiyo, from whom I must have picked the political bug.”

A Longstanding Political Career

Millie Odhiambo has been a significant figure in Kenyan politics for over a decade. Initially nominated as a Member of Parliament in 2007 under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), she won the Mbita constituency seat in 2013, which was later renamed Suba North.

While Millie was the star of the event, her husband, Mabona Magugu, also garnered attention for his support. With over 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry, he currently serves as the Executive Director of Amaka Images, overseeing strategic development and leadership training.

Mabona’s career includes notable roles, such as Operations Deputy General Manager at The Victoria Falls Hotel and Food and Beverages Manager at Holiday Inn Express Beitbridge in Zimbabwe. At the book launch, he expressed pride in his wife’s resilience and dedication.
