Social media influencer Francis Gaitho is a wanted man. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is looking for Gaitho after implication in various criminal activities.
According to a statement dated January 2, 2024, the influencer was charged with publishing false information in violation of Section 23 of the Computer Misuse and Cyber Crimes Act.
Additionally, he is under investigation for sharing personal information of a senior Public Officer and Publishing False Information.
The Directorate said that the former Thika Member of Parliament (MP) aspirant, acted contrary to Section 23 of the Computer Misuse and Cyber Crimes Act against other Kenyan citizens.
“The suspect had been charged with the offence of publishing false information in violation of Section 23 of the Computer Misuse and Cyber Crimes Act (Case No. CR E738/24),” read the DCI statement in part.

Francis Gaitho Misses Court
At the same time, Gaitho has been accused of missing a court session on December 4, 2024. Consequently, the court issued a warrant of arrest for him.
Also, Francis Gaitho is wanted for publishing a post where he slandered unnamed senior government officials.
He absconded a court session on December 4, 2024, which resulted in the issuance of a Warrant of Arrest by the Milimani Law Courts.
“Additionally, the suspect will face multiple counts of cyber harassment for a post in which he disparaged senior government officials.
“The above files are pending perusal and advice by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions,” added the statement in part.

Gaitho’s Earlier Arrest
Earlier in July 2024, Gaitho was charged with False Publications and Cyber Harassment and presented before the court.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) accused the blogger of intentionally publishing false information on social media.
He was also accused of publishing false information about one Jairus Onkundi Morwabe, knowing or having reason to know that such publication would cause Morwabe apprehension or fear of violence, as well as damage or loss to his property.
Francis Gaitho pleaded not guilty to the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Robinson Ondieki and was released on a cash bail of Ksh30,000.
