A family in Juja, Kiambu County, is overjoyed after their 14-year-old daughter, Daisy Wanjiku, returned home four months after she went missing. Daisy, a Form One student at Kahuhia Girls High School in Murang'a County, had disappeared from their Mugutha Estate home on May 13, just a day before she was scheduled to report back to school for the second term.

On Monday, Daisy called her mother with the happy news that she was on her way home. Her mother, overwhelmed with relief and joy, shared her gratitude, saying, "I was overjoyed and I thank God that Daisy came back home safe and in good health." The return of Daisy has brought immense relief to her family, who had been anxiously waiting for her safe return.

Her father, Charles Githaiga, who is both a pastor and a farmer, likened his daughter's return to the biblical story of the Prodigal Son, who was warmly welcomed back by his father after squandering his inheritance in a foreign land.

Charles assured that the family would support Daisy in completing her education and achieving her dream of becoming a doctor. He advised other parents not to harbor resentment towards children who leave home but to instead show them love and support when they return.

The family had faced significant challenges and emotional turmoil during Daisy's absence, with some people even accusing them of being involved in her disappearance. Daisy's aunt, Winnie Mwaura, noted the family's profound agony and relief at her return. Additionally, Daisy’s uncle, Bishop Martin Kariuki, revealed that the family had engaged in fervent prayers and fasting while hoping for her safe return. The joy of Daisy's homecoming has renewed the family's spirits and strengthened their bond as they look forward to her continued growth and success.
