Licenses of 26 TV and Radio Stations Revoked

The Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK) has revoked the licenses of 26 TV and radio stations among them Kiss TV and Kwese TV.

In a gazette notice dated October 11, CA Director General David Mugonyi published the list of the stations whose licenses have been revoked

“Notice is given pursuant to the provisions of the Kenya Information and Communications Act that the Communications Authority of Kenya shall revoke the licences of the following service providers/operators within seven (7) days from the date of this Gazette Notice. The list of the Service Providers/operators is as shown,” read the Gazette notice in part.

“The revocation will take effect seven (7) days from the date of this Gazette Notice. Any resources held under any of these licences shall revert to the Authority upon revocation.”

KISS FM among Stations Whose Licenses Have Been Revoked

Mugonyi also mentioned that upon revocation of the licences listed in the notice, the service providers/operators shall not be authorized to operate and provide the services as indicated in the respective tables above.

Other stations whose licenses were revoked include:

Sky 106.1 FM

Njata FM

Njata TV

Athiani FM

Kihooto FM

Dala FM

Mwendani FM

Also in the list is Mwendami TV, Somal FM, Voice Broadcasting Network FM, Nacex FM, Kulmiye FM, Radio Luhya FM, TV Cosmopolitan and Kyeni TV.

CAK Revokes Other 400 Licences

At the same time, CAK also revoked the licenses of 400 companies under Application Service Providers (ASP), Network Facility Provider Category (NFP) and Content Service Provider (CSP).

The licenses of 269 Content Service Providers (companies) included Ace Inc Solutions Limited, Acted Engineering Limited, Acumen Communications Limited, B Climax Africa Limited, Ber Lula Limited, Bonke Communications Limited, Connect Media Interactive Company Limited, and the Consumer Federation of Kenya among others.

Similarly, the licenses of 113 Application Service Providers have been revoked. They include Abishai Telecom Limited, Alliance West Technologies Limited, Alphabest Computers & ICT Solutions, Back Track Technologies, Bandwidth Providers East Africa Limited, Batton Contractors Limited, Cable Car Corporation (Kenya) Limited, Central Vehicle Services Limited, and Chear (K) Limited.

Others include Sunrise Tracking Supreme Truckway Solutions Limited, Suuban Entreprise, Tapifare Kenya Limited, Technology Analysts Limited, Teleken Limited, Tiben Technologies Company Limited, Toppoint Networks Limited, Uvacorp Technologies Limited, Voip Pro (K) Limited, and Webdeli Limited among others.

Meanwhile, CA revoked licences of 18 Network Facility Providers. These were Anga Internet Solutions Limited, Blue Telecom Limited, Eco-Partners Limited, Elris Communications Services Limited, Fiberlink Limited, Jogoowear Enterprises Limited, Kings Skypay Limited, and Klass Image Limited.
