Ruto Assigns Mudavadi, Duale and Mvurya Additional Cabinet Roles

President William Ruto has assigned new acting Cabinet Secretaries to lead three ministries after he made changes to his Cabinet.

Ruto on December 19 made fresh Cabinet nominations, bringing several former politicians back into government.

Following the changes effected within Cabinet on 19th December 2024 and as the Cabinet Secretary nominees undergo the requisite parliamentary approval process, President Ruto has assigned acting Cabinet Secretaries to the vacant ministerial portfolios.

“IN THAT REGARD, it is notified that the Head of State and Government has pursuant to Article 152(5)(a) of the Constitution, assigned the vacant ministerial portfolios to the following Cabinet Secretaries in an acting capacity, as STATED,” read part of the statement. 

Musalia Mudavadi has been named the acting CS for the Ministry of Information, Communications & The Digital Economy, Aden B. Duale, to the Ministry of Agriculture & Livestock Development and Salim Mvurya to the Ministry of Investments, Trade & Industry.

In the announcement made on December 19, the head of state nominated former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo as Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication, and the Digital Economy.

Kabogo is set to take over the ICT portfolio from Dr. Margaret Nyambura who was nominated as Kenya’s High Commissioner to Ghana.

Meanwhile, Mutahi Kagwe, who previously served as Health Cabinet Secretary under former President Uhuru Kenyatta, was nominated as Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture.

Additionally, former Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui has been nominated to serve as Cabinet Secretary for Investment, Trade, and Industry previously held by Salim Mvurya who has been moved to the Sports Ministry which falls vacant following the appointment of Kipchumba Murkomen as Interior CS.
