Bishop Kiengei's disparaging comments about content creator Pritty Vishy during a local interview have sparked widespread criticism from the entertainment industry and beyond.
In a video clip shared on social media by Pritty Vishy and others, Bishop Kiengei is heard making disparaging comments about Pritty Vishy’s appearance, suggesting she is not attractive and criticizing her talents.
The clip, in which Kiengei describes Vishy as “not appealing” and implies she is only seeking attention, quickly went viral on TikTok and other platforms.
Rapper Femi One was among those who condemned the bishop’s remarks, resharing the video and expressing criticism of Kiengei's comments.
As the backlash grew, Bishop Kiengei, formerly an ordained priest at AIPCA church and now leading his own JCM Church in Kamakis, Ruiru, issued an apology to Pritty Vishy.
In his statement, Kiengei expressed sincere regret, acknowledging his overstep and promising it would not happen again. He asked for forgiveness and invited Vishy to his church, emphasizing its welcoming nature.
“Pritty Vishy, I am truly sorry for my inappropriate remarks. I regret mentioning you in that way and hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me. This will not occur again. Please feel free to visit JCM Church, a place for everyone,” he said.
This controversy arose shortly after Pritty Vishy shared her journey of self-improvement and transformation with her followers. She revealed that she is currently in the 'beauty lab,' working on enhancing her appearance and assuring fans that her new look will be worth the wait.
“I’m still in the beauty lab, working on myself, and once I’m done, you’ll love it even more,” Vishy stated, highlighting her dedication to self-love and acceptance.
She elaborated on her recent focus on embracing her true self and making self-prioritizing decisions.
“In the past few months, I promised myself that I would learn to love myself despite setbacks. It’s been incredibly challenging, and I feel like I’m struggling to stay on track. I wish you all knew how hard I’m trying, but it seems this will be one of the toughest journeys of my life,” Vishy confessed, expressing the weight of her ongoing struggles.
Pritty Vishy has long faced harsh comments and jokes about her physical appearance. Despite this, she has remained resilient, focusing on her happiness and self-worth over societal pressures.
